A free guide for small candle shops

A ten-minute candle product-page check.

Open one of your listings on your phone. Read it like someone who has never smelled your candle or heard of your shop. Can they answer these seven questions without digging?

By Ziyad at Goods & Words · Use this on one page today, then repeat it for the rest.

Make the decision easier.

Good photos and a nice scent name pull people in. The words around the buy button should help them choose the right candle and know what happens next. You do not need a longer description for its own sake. You need the few details your buyer is looking for.

01 / SCENT

What does it actually smell like?

Put the recognizable notes near the top. A name such as “Cozy Evening” sets a mood; apple, cedar, and soft spice helps someone picture the scent. Use the maker’s real notes, not guesses.

02 / FORMAT

What arrives in the box?

State the size and format plainly: jar candle, wax melt, room spray, or gift set. If there are choices, say what changes with each option. Make the photo and selected variant match.

03 / MATERIALS

What is it made from?

Add the wax and wick details you can confirm for this exact product. If burn time is tested and stated by the maker, show the conditions it depends on. Leave unverified claims out.

04 / USE

How should someone use it?

Keep care and safety information easy to find. Link to your full care guidance if it is too long for the listing. A buyer should not have to search the site to learn the basics.

05 / DELIVERY

When and how will it arrive?

Check that the product page agrees with your current shipping policy. If the homepage says free shipping on all orders, the listing should not say “over $50” unless there is a clear reason. State any local pickup or delivery steps before checkout.

06 / AVAILABILITY

What if this version is sold out?

When a scent comes in another format, link to it if it is actually available. A shopper who wanted the candle may still be interested in the wax melt. Do not point to a dead link or promise a restock date you cannot confirm.

07 / NEXT STEP

What should the buyer do now?

Keep the price, variant choice, and add-to-cart button easy to spot on mobile. For custom or bulk orders, show the steps in the order they happen: choose, pay, send artwork, then approve.

A simple shape to borrow

Put the facts where they help.

Try this structure on a real listing. Fill each line from your product records, then read it aloud. If it sounds unlike your shop, rewrite the opening in your own voice.

This is a blank template, not a real product or a performance claim.
